Description
This presentation focuses on lattice QCD calculations for precision studies of the muon anomalous magnetic moment (muon g-2). I will begin with a brief review of the current status, as summarized in the Whitepaper. In the main part, I will present recent high-precision lattice QCD determinations of the muon g-2, highlighting the Mainz/CLS and BMW results, and compare them with experimental measurements and dispersive determinations. These comparisons reveal tensions among theoretical estimates of the hadronic vacuum polarization (HVP) contribution. I will then turn to the running QED and electroweak couplings, which also depend on the HVP, and discuss how these tensions manifest themselves in these quantities. Finally, I will present preliminary results from the PACS collaboration for the two-pion scattering length. This gives a first step toward achieving precise control over the pion sector, which is essential for precision calculations of the muon g-2.
